Satisfy that Sweet Craving with Fruit
For those sweet tooths out there (I feel you!), you might be wondering what to do to satisfy that craving when you just want something sweet but are trying to watch your sugar. Here are a few ideas and recipes for you:
- Fresh fruit, in season. Shop for a few colorful, fresh fruits while at the grocery store this week, and cut them up and eat them fresh and cold for a cool and refreshing treat. Guilt free.
- Easy Cinnamon Baked Apples, from Minimalist Baker — Recipe available here. I love this one, since it’s packed with flavor, but not a lot of sugar. If you want a more “apple crisp” feel, you can always add a sprinkle of granola on top.
- Mixed Berry Crisp — Recipe available here. You can mix and match berries using whatever types you have at home, and you can also use frozen berries instead of fresh (as suggested in the recipe). Super tasty, with minimal sugar.
Small step: Try a fruit-based dessert to satisfy your sweet tooth with something tasty, but low on sugar.
Cutting down on sugar doesn’t have to mean living without dessert. The key is, finding tasty but healthy treats that nourish your body instead of harming it.
